East Tennessee law enforcement looking for kidnapping suspect

(WGRV) The search is continuing for a Greeneville man involved in a kidnapping and assault incident that led to locations along the Erwin Highway and Jearoldstown Road Tuesday morning.

46-year-old Scott Burger is wanted in connection with the incident early Tuesday morning involving a woman who was found injured in her vehicle along the Erwin Highway. Burger’s truck was located later Tuesday morning along Ryan Road, just off Jearoldstown Road. A search of the area did not turn up any information on Burger’s whereabouts.

Burger was last seen wearing a blue shirt and blue shorts and tennis shoes, and is considered to be armed and dangerous. Warrants for aggravated kidnapping and aggravated domestic assault have been issued against Burger.

Burger had successfully completed the Correctional Career Pathways Program with SRK (formerly DTR), where inmates work at the factory while still incarcerated. However, Burger was charged with assault in January after allegedly threatening a woman, then attempting to run from Sheriff’s Department deputies.

Burger had served a sentence of nearly four years on identical kidnapping and assault charges, pleading guilty in September, 2014 and sentenced to consecutive terms of four years in jail at 30 percent release.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Scott Burger should call the Sheriff’s Department at 798-1800.
