Morristown, TN, – One of the largest parades in East Tennessee is just around the corner. December 6th, the first Thursday in December, is the date of the parade, but applications have to be turned in no later than November 14th. The required mandatory meeting of all accepted applications is Monday, Dec. 3rd.
Amie Whitworth, Parade Marshall and Crossroads Downtown Partnership’s President, expects this parade will be one of the longest given the popularity of this event. Last year there were 109 entries making the parade stretch more than a mile.
All the information you need to apply for the parade is found at www.crossroadspartnership.com on the Christmas Parade Page. The application can be printed from that site and all fees can be paid by credit card at the same time. If you have a vehicle as part of your entry, be sure to include a certificate of insurance with your application.
We are proud to have Gordon Lintz, President and Chief Administrative Officer of the Morristown Hamblen Healthcare System, be the Parade Grand Marshall this year. He has served the community in this capacity for more than six years, and is currently on the Board of the Morristown Area Chamber of Commerce and was their 2017 Chairman.
This year we have two professionally made floats that are going to be in the parade, with many other homemade float entries, some of which will be competitively judged said Barbara Garrow, Crossroads Downtown Partnership Executive Director. We are fortunate to have members of our Board and other community volunteers help with this parade.
The Citizen Tribune will again be livestreaming the parade on their website. This is a great event and is very family friendly. Be sure to come early to get a good viewing spot. The parade route is down W. Main and E. Main Street ending at Home Trust Bank on Evans Street.
