Carjacking suspect nabbed by Hamblen Co. deputies

MORRISTOWN, Tenn. (WATE) – A suspect who Hamblen County deputies say carjacked a vehicle, took the driver hostage and fired shots at officers was taken into custody Thursday thanks to a K9 officer.

The Hamblen County Sheriff’s Office says the suspect was being pursued in Knox County. They say he ditched the car he was in and carjacked someone at gunpoint.

During a pursuit, he fired four times at deputies, and one bullet hit a cruiser. No officers were hurt.

The suspect exited the vehicle near Fern Wood Church Road and tried to kick in the front door of two different houses, according to deputies.  Eventually, K9 Nexy was turned loose and “resolved the issue.”
