(WGRV Radio) A body was recovered from the Nolichucky River Monday afternoon near the Kinser Bridge.
Two fishermen contacted 9-1-1 around 3:30 Sunday afternoon stating they had found a body submerged in the river. According to Tusculum Police Chief Danny Greene, the Tusculum Police and Greene County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene near Blackberry Lane. The search was conducted until darkness fell, and the search was resumed Monday morning. Also assisting were the Rescue Squad and EMS.
Greene said the body was located Monday about one mile upstream from the Kinser Bridge, but due to the depth of the water and river currents, the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Department Dive Team was contacted to help recover the body.
The identification is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
